The Appeal of Working at Fujifilm

Working at Fujifilm is appealing
because we can feel we’re helping
our customers
and contributing to society

Helping customers and contributing to society by being honest with customers, with quality, with work, with colleagues and with ourselves. Prompted by keywords, employees describe how and why working at Fujifilm makes them feel that way.

Young employees can feel ownership
if they are left in charge of projects
that force them to stretch a bit.

Such assignments force them to think about their role, examine what is needed, and identify problems.
Go beyond what the work requires and take the initiative to involve others as you work together on projects.

  • Looking back over my work experience, I’ve always been given work to do that is slightly beyond my capabilities, and I’ve learned to broaden the scope of my work, expand my role and give new areas a try. I was not very confident at first, but with the help of colleagues, I realized that seeing a project through to completion helped me grow and gave me confidence.
  • When there’s division of work and specialization, there is always some part of a job where it’s not clear who’s in charge. When you think like that, just do the job yourself. Nobody will stop you, and you will gain the respect of your co-workers.
  • If you make it clear that there’s something you want to do, you can try as many times as you like: that’s the culture at Fujifilm. The most satisfying moment is when you’ve come up with an idea, worked with colleagues to develop it, and seen a client happy with the result.
  • There are basically no jobs that you simply do because you were instructed to do them. It’s up to think of what you should do to reach the top goal and take the initiative to act.
  • At Fujifilm, everyone will treat you as a technologist equal to everyone else, no matter your age. Since your ideas about tackling a project are respected, that helps you develop a sense of responsibility toward your work.

Global, cutting-edge and broad fields of business give everyone a chance to energetically tackle projects.

Using Fujifilm’s unique, cutting-edge technology, employees work hard to develop new products and services, create new businesses and pioneer new markets.
Fujifilm operates in a broad range of businesses, on a global field open to action and challenge.

  • Fujifilm is truly global and dynamic. The best part of working at Fujifilm is manufacturing products in Japan and providing them to the world through our global sales network.
  • It’s really motivating to be invited to take part in a project that’s never been tackled before. When you don’t know what hurdles await you, thinking about and trying out ways of approaching the problem may be difficult, but it’s enjoyable too.
  • The best part of my job is being able to plan a new product or service together with capable development team members and superior technology. One of the interesting things about my work is planning and creating products, which actually help customers solve their problems, and then popularizing said products by working with the people on the front lines, including sales personnel.
  • I have the feeling that I’m part of world-first or top-class technologies and development. Some projects are hard and it’s difficult to make progress, but I can feel that I’m steadily advancing toward the goal and that the work is contributing to my personal growth at the same time.
  • I’m proud that Fujifilm has the technology and the supply chains to compete with many industries in the global marketplace. Fujifilm is different from other makers that concentrate on specific products: its technologies go so deep that it can lead specialization in one industry and yet it also has a presence in others. If everyone is passionate, they can write their own stories. Fujifilm is a place where you can dream of what you want to be and where you can grow.

People from different backgrounds
working together make it possible
for Fujifilm to tackle bigger issues.

Employees in R&D, production technology, product planning, marketing, sales and other divisions work together, each going beyond their own roles to create better products and services.
That’s the best part of working at Fujifilm.

Voices

  • What makes working at Fujifilm appealing to me is working with colleagues and spending time with them as we pull together and work to achieve shared objectives.
  • There are many chances to work not just within your own division but with other divisions and companies, including abroad. Our culture is that we have discussions in our shared language of numbers and data when we work toward a goal or solve a problem.
  • The more you go beyond yourself or beyond the organizational framework, the more new trends are born; it’s a real thrill to be able to create something new.
  • I feel that to accomplish their objective, many people are willing to cooperate with other colleagues, not just within their own group but from other divisions too. That’s probably because of the company’s history of colleagues knowing each other’s capabilities and respecting each other as equals as they have coordinated and cooperated to address the issues in their shared fields.
  • At Fujifilm, many people have extensive expertise in a wide variety of areas. Matching my own expertise with that of others and using that fusion of skills to take on challenging development is very appealing to me. Working with a team makes it possible to accomplish things that I wouldn’t be able to do on my own.

That’s why everyone can feel a deep, indescribable happiness in knowing
that they are helping customers
and contributing to society.

  • I really feel that a product I’ve developed or commercialized will ultimately help solve someone’s problem or remedy a social issue.
Examples: When I’m traveling and see someone using a camera that I helped develop / When a semiconductor device for which I developed the material goes on the market inside a smartphone or a computer and I can feel that it’s helpful to people in their daily lives / In the medical field, today’s technology that is helping save lives that couldn’t be saved before
  • Fujifilm has many products that are unique or very helpful for society. Working for Fujifilm, I often do work that I feel is contributing to society.
  • Many projects that I’ve been involved in are business successes and make great contributions to society. Seeing them launched gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
  • You can feel that the work you’re doing is helping improve living standards around the world. I’m involved in work in the Healthcare segment and advancing projects to improve medical technology in developing countries. My work feels really worthwhile when I see local doctors learning new technologies and using them in clinical settings.
  • Sometimes, achieving a result is a lot harder than I imagined, but seeing something that I worked on launched makes me happy, and I’m even happier when it’s well received by users.
